Vintage original oil painting on canvas of dancing couple signed by artist. The last name is Rodriquez. The first name starts with a F but not 100% sure of the name because it is a bit hard to read, very light in some spots. The painting itself is in great vintage condition. The carved solid wood frame has age related wear. Please zoom in on frame it has a very rustic look to it. The artwork with the frame measures 28 1/2″ in height and 24 1/4″ wide. Gesner Abelard, (alternately Gesnerr) (born 22 February 1922) is a Haitian painter and sculptor. Born in Port-au-Prince, Abelard began life as a mechanic, then studied painting and sculpture at the Industrial School of Port-au-Prince under the painter Humberman Charles. He became a member of the Haitian Centre d’Art in 1948. In 1949, he received a bronze medal at the International Exposition celebrating the bicentennial of Port-au-Prince.
