1826 PAINTED AND STENCILED FOLK ART HOOP SKIRT ROCKER. UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THIS OUTSTANDING HAND STENCILED ROCKER THAT HAS BEEN IN A PRIVATE FAMILY COLLECTION FOR THE PAST 100 YEARS. THERE ARE TWO DATES ON THIS FABULOUS PIECE. I WOULD GUESS THAT IT IS DATED TWICE BECAUSE OF MAYBE THE ROCKERS WERE ADDED AT THAT PERIOD OR MAYBE CHANGED FAMILYS AT THAT PERIOD. THE DATES ARE 1826 & 1886. THE 1826 DATE IS ON THE HIGHEST SLAT IN A FADED GREEN DATE AND THE 1886 IS ON THE LOWEST SLAT THAT ARE ALSO STENCILED UNDER THE PAINT. THIS GREAT PIECE OF AMERICANA FURNITURE HAS HER COMPLETELY ORIGINAL ALLIGATORED FINISH. THE ONLY PIECES THAT ARE NOT COMPLETELY ALLIGATORED ARE THE STENCILED RUNNERS (AT LEAST 100 YEARS OLD). EVEN THE BACK SLATS ARE STENCILED UNDER THE ORIGINAL FINISH. THE PIECE MEASURES 42 ½ INCHES TALL-22 INCHES WIDE. THE SEAT SIZE IS 19 ½ INCHES WIDE-15 INCHES DEEP. THERE ARE NO BREAKS/REPAIRS. JUST AS YOU SEE THE PIECE. IF YOU NEED ANY INFORMATION PLEASE ASK. THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE IN REGARDS TO THIS PIECE. THESE PIECES ONLY COME UP FOR SALE ONCE IN A LIFETIME. For sale is an Antique Primitive Folk Art Oil Painting of a couple standing on a bridge in the woods overlooking a rushing stream. This wonderful original painting is displayed in a wood frame with an overall measurement of 24 by 28. The image itself measures 19¼ by 23 ½. The painting is in lovely Antique condition with the expected wear for its age including some minor paint loss, wear on the frame, bumps in the canvas and craquelure in the paint. This is a wonderful double wall box in beautiful old sea-foam blue/green paint. The color on this box is to die for. The lower panel is wider than the top panel and the upper box is stepped back for easy access to the bottom box. The dimensions are 15″ tall x 10-1/2″ wide x 4 deep. The box is constructed of thin hardwood with tiny square cut nails and the sides are mitered into the back. This is a reconstruction made from old wood. The painted surface is old and original but the edges have been color matched. Please view all of the photos. There are bumps and bruises and few holes here and there.
