What I think this is , is a Pennsylvania Dutch folk art primitive painted cedar brides box circa 18 th C But I really dont know. The painting is primitive. Bought at an estate sale in upstate NY. She looks like shes wearing a headdress but I dont think that type of headdress was worn by Eastern tribes? Would be really valuable if that were related to John Rolfe and Pocahontas on the lid. They have over 100,000 living descendants today, so could be. There is some old newspapers stuck to the bottom I didnt take it off in case it was a clue to origin. Please see all pics close up as this is not my area of expertise. 9 1/4″ X 15″ APPROXIMATELY.
