Jimmie Sudduth Outsider Folk Art painting Woman w/ Guitar On Door 1992. Size: 24″x 38″. This is a colorful, Jimmie Lee Sudduth signed painting of a woman figure with a guitar, an. Directly onto an original wooden cabinet door. Is an unusual find. On plywood for most of the works that he masterfully created. The figure has many colors with predominately pastel green background. Sudduth signature on bottom right. SUDDUTH’S WORK HAS BEEN SHOWN IN NEW YORK AND ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. Jimmie Lee Sudduth lived in a shot gun house in Fayette, Alabama. I’m easy to find. I’m in the center of the universe! You see that black mud? All you got to do is take that black mud and put you a little sugar in it. Stir it up and sweeten it, add a little water and you can paint all day. He finger painted beautiful earth-toned pictures. He often used homegrown plants for color: Rose petals for red, wild turnip leaves for green, a chalky clay for white. “I don’t like to use paint too much, ” he said. Sudduth was also an accomplished harmonica player and often would sit down and wail out a spiritual while his painting dries.
