Aafa Early Antique Folk Art Wood Harvest Fall Farm Sorting Table Original Paint
AAFA EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART WOOD HARVEST FALL FARM SORTING TABLE ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this beautiful old kitchen/farm/sorting table. It’s a wonderful Primitive table with a great patina to it. The cream color paint is old and has other red or wood undertones as you can see in the pictures. The paint is alligator-ed, worn, peeled and crackled over time, especially on the drawer. The table has been well used and thus you get the benefits of this amazing ages-old look. It has nicks, dings, edgewear, scrapes, cuts, cracks, knots, stains, chips, chunks and an absolutely wonderful patina. The top of the table is comprised of 4 boards. The top was painted and from years of use has lots of marks, spots, scrapes and obvious wear , just the way we like it! It has a smooth look to it and has a border / wood edge around the top of the table to keep things from rolling off. There is also a cut out / chunk missing from one side above the drawer, we’re not sure why. The legs square and tapered as you can see in the pictures. One leg has a small amount of damage to it as you can see in the last picture. You don’t really notice the damage, if at all, when the table is standing up. The table measures 60″ L x 30.25″ W x 32.25 H at the highest point. The skirt, or apron of the table, measures 24.5 H to the floor. This is a great table and would make an amazing centerpiece in your kitchen or dining room. It’s sure to be a conversation starter! We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great table! We regularly put up new items so check out our other items. We will do our best to answer your questions. We will work with your shipper for them to pick it up based on your arrangements. We will do the same. We couldn’t sell anything if it wasn’t for you and the time you have taken to spend looking at our items. As a very small business we strive to keep you as our customer! This selection is a Giclee reproduction on stretchedcanvas of Banjo Man, a 2016 painting by Navasota, Texas folk artist Leon Collins. It is 8 by 10 by 1/2, unframed. This standard size makes for easyframing. It is one of his many paintings that celebrate the local music traditions. As Blues Capital of Texas, Navasota was home to the Navasota Blues Fest for many years. Note the banjo instrument; in reflecting on it, the artist recalls that in the old days, musicians usedanything they could find to fashion into instruments, including washboards and shovels. A number of his paintings also adorn the faces of guitars and banjos. Other paintings with these themes include Blues Time (2015, see picture 5), and Checkerboard Guitar (2016, see picture 6). The original painting is acrylic on canvas, approximately 24 by 36, and resides in an unknown collection. An African American, Leon Collins (1951-, see picture7) is Navasotas local legend. While he has housed his Color of Life Gallery inseveral antique stores along East Washington Street, he is known for painting and displaying his treasures on the sidewalk in full view of passersby. According to fellow Navasota artist and sculptor Russell Cushman, Collins is the most successful artist in the BrazosValley, and perhaps the most prolific artist that Texas has produced. LeonCollins is best known for portraying his many childhood memories, but his work includes a number of distinct phases and styles. Collins is an amazinglyproductive artist, painting one or more works a day. He sells them as fast as he can paint them, so original works of his are rare and hard to find. His life and works havebeen featured in Images of America:Navasota by Robin and Joy Montgomery (2012), Texas Farm and Home Magazine, TexasLive Magazine, the Navasota CurrentRussell Cushmans blog, The Lufkin News, and the Navasota Examiner. His paintings have been shown in galleries fromBryan, Fort Worth, and Dallas, Texas to New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Local showings have included the Redbud Gallery of Houston, the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival, and Rice University.
