Artist signed on the lower right corner. Water damage on the lower left end of board, has warped partially at the lower end (see photo). Fading and surface scratches. The board has nail holes from where it had been mounted all around the side edges. I count 20 approximately. Measures 32.75″ x 44.75 x 2.50″ approximately framed. I framed this painting measures 24″ x 36″ in diameter. I do not know the exact age or origin of this piece. But the board shows age staining and darkening, discoloration. All the sides are rough and have nicks and chips around the edges. Small nail hole on the middle and right side of painting. Please let me know if you would like additional images. Original Antique Painted Portraits of 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters in Antique Birdseye Maple Frames. This is a wonderful original collection of 4 antique portrait watercolor paintings from the mid 1800s. They are of four children, an older brother who has a nautical type suit and is holding a spy glass or telescope. The second brother has a beautifully detailed pleated blue top and white pants. He is holding a large straw hat in his hand. The younger sister, who appears to be the youngest of the children is painted in a red dress and is holding a small purse. And probably the most special is the older sister who has a wonderfully plaid painted dress – a rare find in an early child portrait. The frames are period matching birdseye maple frames with slightly different measurements from 10 x8 inches, to 8.25 x 6.75 inches on the smallest. All 4 portraits are in wonderful condition. There is a small spot of red coloring on the background of the little girl’s painting over by the left side of the frame. The frames are beautiful with original patina. This is a special collection with all four children in the same setting. They are so well done in a folk art style and it is very rare to find a matching family set in the original period frames. This lot is a framed oil on linen painting of two brothers. This painting is signed however I have yet to decipher the signature. The painting is in a primitive style circa 1800 from the European continent. Framed dimensions are 19.5″ x 16 and unframed dimensions are 17.75″ x 15.5. The painting is very stable and there are no holes or major cracks. The patina and texture is as would be expected with an item of this age.
