For your consideration is this antique hand carved and painted folk art wooden weathervane in the shape of a chicken attached to a metal bracketed post and mounted on a wooden base. The weathervane is in good condition for its age and use. There is an old repair to the chicken, the wooden base is cracked from age and there is wear to the paint throughout the piece. The rather large and heavy weathervane is 41″ in height and 20″ in width. Available for pick-up only. That was the case when I saw this great 1850’s pine single wide board in the best Original Robin’s Egg Blue Paint! It became this Primitive Folk Art Whale Weathervane. All the materials are from the 1850’s — the Southern Heart Pine Wood with incredible patina. T he wood knot became his eye. This whale even has his teeth, made of old metal. It is a prominent stand-out on the wall of any room. The wood is a single wide board. He measures approximately 62″ x 15″. You can be assured that this piece was hand crafted by me from all old original materials. It is 100% American made with 100% American materials dating from the 1850’s. This is a late 19th to early 20th century hand carved and painted whirligig or weathervane depicting a young slave or farmhand. It has an excellent weathered patina with the original paint. It measures approximately 16″ high, 16″ wide, with a 1.5 depth at the propeller. There are losses to the paint, figure, arrow, and propeller. Later screws are visible under the arrow, and traces of glue are visible at the arrow point. It fits a 1/4 rod for support. Please contact me with any questions. Thank you for viewing my listings. We are offering an original American. 19th century folk art painted and hand carved wood full bodied running horse weathervane. Stands 18″ tall x 22 1/2″ long at the most extreme points, with a maximum width of 2 1/4. We found this great old piece in a longtime collector’s estate in Los Angeles; we were told by the family that he bought it at an Americana Antiques show from a folk art dealer years ago, but we have no other information available. In very good condition. The traces of white and brown paint appear to be all original. Light overall wear commensurate with age. There is one 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ surface gouge to the left upper hind quarter section The lower part of the back right leg has been broken and is missing. Originally had a mane and tail. Old stapled repair at the muzzle across. Please study the photos as they are a part of the description. Offered here fresh out of an estate for the first time at no reserve.
