This sponge decorated chest measures 28″ long, by 14″ front to back, and is 11-3/4 tall to the high part of the dome top. The trunk has its original old sheet steel lock (missing hasp and key) butt hinges, wonderful old dovetails, with cut nails. Trunk features sponge decoration on all four sides, and the top. Main color is dark green. Old age related scuffs, partial split on one of the top boards. A beautiful antique dome top for your collection or display. GREAT PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 24″ x 12″ x 10. Wonderful folk art polychrome sponge painted storage chest. Sponge painted bands with splashes and squiggles in mostly yellow and black on a rust red background. Lined with newspapers dated 1830. Some surface roughage commensurate with age and use.
