Measuring 11 1/2″ long by 6 1/4″ tall and 7 wide, this mid 19th century Yellow Pine Miniature Chest is accented with wonderful hand-painted Folk Art decorations. The cover has the original owner’s initials N. And on the front, just below the key escutcheon, is a bird with large seashells on the sides. The outside edges and corners of this folk art painted box do have some wear and knicks, but when you open it up you see that the inside lining is still bright and vibrant. On the inside of the cover is a hand-colored print of King Charles the Second and the rest of the box is lined with vibrant stenciled wallpaper. The locking mechanism and hinges are original and along with this box comes the original key which still works! Hosler this was given to and where she lived, but unfortunately we had no luck. Created with a hinged lid and tall turned legs, lockable but untested with no key included, it measures approx. 10-3/4″ tall by 17-1/8″ wide by 8-1/2 long. In good overall condition with age wear, some scattered scratches to the finish but no apparent losses or restorations. Measuring 6 3/8″ by 8 1/8″ under the early thin glass this hand painted Silhouette depicts a father with his daughter on his knee. The Folk Artist has finely hand painted the details in gold and the gentleman’s hair in white. Unsigned, this large Folk Art Silhouette is in original clean condition and come in the original 10 5/8″ by 12 3/8″, gilded brass of wood frame. We carefully removed the painting, hoping to find a signature, but it is unsigned. The corners were trimmed to fit the circa-1820s brass frame. Century Folk Art we are listing this week. I guarantee that they are both from the 18. Century and they are in original, unrestored condition. In the photographs of the back you will see that both 2 ¾” by 3 ½”, Ink Wash Paintings are still sealed under early thin glass, in the original 3 7/8″ by 4 5/8″ Brass Frames. The backs were sealed in early laid-paper. Hand written on the paper is a statement from the original artist; Ladies & Gents may have more copies without the inconvenience of a second sitting. ” The back of the officer has the added statement, “Old Shades accurately reduced & draf’d in the present taste, by Clarke Church Yard, Exeter. Small Antique 1870s American Folk Art Miniature Portrait Watercolor Painting NR.. Framed under early thin glass this antique, Miniature Folk Art Portrait Painting, measures 5 3/8″ by 6 ¾”. The 8 5/8″ by 10″ Figured Maple, Veneered Frame is original. There is some very old bug bites on the right corner. (I guarantee that the little critters are long gone). And some gesso damage to the inner gilt fillet. The wood backboards were replaced on the 20th century and must have also had some bug bites, because they did add ten very tiny holes to the painting.
