English School Folk Art Watercolour – Portrait of a Boy with a Hoop & Stick. This delightfully naive Georgian portrait depicts a boy in dark blue overalls and a ruffled collar, holding a rolling hoop and stick, a popular children’s game of the period. 1820, the child is shown in profile within a grassy landscape. Handsomely presented in a 19th century reeded gilt frame and oval card mount. In very good condition overall, with remarkable colour retention. There is some light discolouration to the paper. The antique frame has some scuffing and marks, with a fine patina of age. Size: 8.5 x 7cm (3.3″ x 2.8″). Framed Size: 20.5 x 17cm (8.1″ x 6.7″). Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. All our artworks are packaged to a very high standard, using protective cellophane wallets, hardboard backing, and bubble wrap. Framed pictures are packed into custom made cartons. Antique 19thC PANTRY BOX AAFA PAINT HOOP ROLLING Toy Game Folk Art Primitive. Late 19th century paint decorated pantry box, the lid with a lovely young lady hoop rolling in front of a geometric landscape. The body of the box surrounded by sixteen panels of symetrically stacked flowers in sets of three. Surface is dry and alligatored in shades of chocolate and caramel. 1826 PAINTED AND STENCILED FOLK ART HOOP SKIRT ROCKER. UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THIS OUTSTANDING HAND STENCILED ROCKER THAT HAS BEEN IN A PRIVATE FAMILY COLLECTION FOR THE PAST 100 YEARS. THERE ARE TWO DATES ON THIS FABULOUS PIECE. I WOULD GUESS THAT IT IS DATED TWICE BECAUSE OF MAYBE THE ROCKERS WERE ADDED AT THAT PERIOD OR MAYBE CHANGED FAMILYS AT THAT PERIOD. THE DATES ARE 1826 & 1886. THE 1826 DATE IS ON THE HIGHEST SLAT IN A FADED GREEN DATE AND THE 1886 IS ON THE LOWEST SLAT THAT ARE ALSO STENCILED UNDER THE PAINT. THIS GREAT PIECE OF AMERICANA FURNITURE HAS HER COMPLETELY ORIGINAL ALLIGATORED FINISH. THE ONLY PIECES THAT ARE NOT COMPLETELY ALLIGATORED ARE THE STENCILED RUNNERS (AT LEAST 100 YEARS OLD). EVEN THE BACK SLATS ARE STENCILED UNDER THE ORIGINAL FINISH. THE PIECE MEASURES 42 ½ INCHES TALL-22 INCHES WIDE. THE SEAT SIZE IS 19 ½ INCHES WIDE-15 INCHES DEEP. THERE ARE NO BREAKS/REPAIRS.
