Fantastic vintage stencil painted bentwood chair, in the Hitchcock style, black painted with green/ yellow hand stencil. Unmarked, maker may be early Hitchcock or another similar. American, likely very early bentwood, late 1800’s – early 1900’s. Good strong condition with age and wear stenciling very worn. Lots of age and patina. Original rush seats are strong and intact, one seat has a approx 2 cut on seat, does not detract much and could be stabilized w glue. Rush seats are also painted with green/ yellow color. Very unusual pair of chairs with beautiful rustic quality. Size each approx 34″ tall to top of back, 18″ seat height. Seats are approx 17″ across seat, 16.5″ depth. Pair Antique Lemon Gold Gilt Picture Frame Paintings Fruit Still Life Folk Art

Each of these lovely 1890s frames retain nice original surface of bronze powder gilding on ornate gesso framing bright lemon gold coves and house richly colored oil on board fruit still lives signed and dated, M FULLER 1920. Measuring 17 x 21 ½ overall (each) with 12 x 16 ½ reveal (sight) and 12 ½ x 17 actual, the paintings are in good stable condition with no losses and expected surface grime for their age. One painting has a crease upper right with old in-paint. The panel has been reinforced with an old linen patch on the back. You will note losses in the fancy gesso edges on both frames. Pair c 1835 American school O/C folk art portraits, brother & sister, Maryland

Each is housed in an early 20th C custom frame with subtle difference in the measurements of each: For John, 26 1/2″ x 24 3/8″ (sight: 20 1/4″ x 18 1/4″) and for Elanor, 27 1/2″ x 24 1/2″ (sight: 21 1/2″ x 18 1/2″). Each frame is tagged so as to identify the sitter (see my 11th picture). My last picture shows the grave headstones for Elanor and John at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church Cemetery, Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. Insofar as condition is concerned, overall excellent. The only discernible repair is a small touchup to Elanor’s cheek, which can be detected in my 6th picture… Beyond this my pictures tell the rest of the story of this classic pair of Federal era American school portraits. These are’a pair’ in matching frames, a Winter scene and a Spring scene, oil on canvas by A. Kowalski the Hungarian artist. Framed in matching wood frames with cloth matting, both are signed by the artist but the signature on the snow scene is just below the edge of the frame. It would be more visible in another frame or if adjusted. I have had these for nearly a year and just found the second signature today. Because I thought the Snow scene was not signed I wanted to keep them together. Both are 24 wide x 20 high. See all pics for best description of condition. Pair of framed oil on burlap paintings by JOSE MARIA de SERVIN. Wonderful images of children — each holding a doll. Hand carved wood frames. In very good condition. Framed, matted and signed. Size including frame: 26 1/2″ x 33″. Jose Maria de Servin was a distinguished member of the group Young Artists of Jalisco. He was an art professor at University of Arizona for 15 years. He is a beloved and honored artist in Mexico and his earliest exhibitions were in the 40’s. Examples of his work can be found at the Legislative Palaces of Guadalajara where he collaborated with Jose Orozco, as well as throughout Mexico City. Two Early 20th C. From a Connecticut estate comes two early 20th C. Girl in blue dress with white lace trim and scarf wrapped around her head and neck, in one hand she clutches a flower to her chest, in the other she has a small blue bird perched on her finger. The boy, dressed in a blue jacket and green vest stands while holding a cup-in-ball toy in one hand and a long piece of white string in the other. Each signed by artist, boy is signed LR and the girl LL, each in simple naturally-finished wooden frames, both with expected wear including craquelure throughout, some frame rubbing along edges as well as some minor speckled loss. Frames with some surface scratching, sporadic nicking and finish loss. Approximately 16 1/4 h. X 12 1/4 w. Each overall (including frame) approximately 19 1/4 h.
