Early Primitive Folk Art Bedpost Doll. This is a stunning original 19th century figure with original paint. It has the remnant of a nailed on stripe of hair. The dress is hand sewn. I will let the photos show the stunning detail of this piece. It measures about 13-3/4 tall and is in excellent condition for the age (see photos). Wonderful early 19th century hand drawn India Ink portrait. See details below for measurements. Male subject portrait (OUT OF FRAME) measurements. 5 inch’s tall. 3.5 inch’s wide. Male subject portrait (FRAME) measurements. 6 inch’s wide. 1 & 2/10 inches deep. These are spectacular one of a kind hand made portraits. Overall this is in sound and good condition all around. Small imperfection on upper left hand corner of frame that does not affect the structural integrity or lifespan of this piece. This type of wear should be expected on a 200 year old piece of artwork. Wonderful early piece with wonderful form and great surface. Paint has been touched up but touch ups appear old. No idea of context, but a wonderful carved fragment with a great look. The face is gorgeous. Mounted later on a more modern stand which makes display easy, in a great size to work in any space. Please use photos and zoom feature for most accurate condition. Measures about 12″ by 7″ by 5. Please get them approved before purchasing. Any questions must be answered before the sale. Early American 19th century oil painting of a physician possibly by Ammi Phillips who was an itinerant painter in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. This was an estate find and is of a man who is pointing to a book that says Ippocrates on the spine which is the Italian spelling of Hippocrates, symbolizes a medical figure. Background is a pearly gray. Flesh tones are austere. Canvas has been restretched at an earlier date but is tight. Background of painting shows a number of repair patches, front shows some over painting in the location of the patches. The gold toned frame is 23 x 31 x 1 1/2 and appears to be period and original to the painting. The painting has been waxed. There are two small black dots and some crazing/craqueture but no peeling. Items are described to the best of my knowledge. I often do not know the history of the painting or how it was stored. Please note paintings and frames may have some natural evidence of aging such as small spots and small cracks. I describe all paintings to the best of my ability.
