Recently brought over from Scandinavia. A Beautiful Example of a Danish Wedding Trunk Chest. Dated On the front 1725. Beautiful folk art painted motifs on the front panels. UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION for being 295 YEARS OLD! The trunk is covered in hand carved designs throughout. The Hardware has been repainted. The base of the trunk had been reinforced at each corner with triangle blocks. Iron strapping with heavy iron handles. The boards are super old and appears that newer nails were used in some places to secure them. Opens and closes perfectly. There is no key. The interior is in great condition with a side box and a small shelf located below the box. The trunk is super large and super heavy. There are some 4 2×4 blocks that were secured underneath the chest to solidify it before we bought it. It is very old and that keeps the Dovetail joints in place. H 40 with the base. Wo base 26 1/2.
