This is a Folk Art / Primitive oil on canvas painting which was created c. (+) area – the gilded frame is also in very good condition with a few dings & scrapes – the c. 1880 Folk Art painting depicts a landscape where a two story colonial farmhouse is shown with its “ell” attachment perpendicular to the main house all of which leads to its attached two story barn – the buildings are painted in a light blue-gray color, & are close to a dirt road running alongside the buildings – to the right of the house is a paddock where one side is composed of a rock wall which stretches up a small hill – in the background, one can see a couple of outbuildings probably used to store farm implements – to the far right of the painting is a stream flowing by – it appears to be late summer or early fall as the trees are starting to turn to their fall colors – it is a wonderfully-peaceful & tranquil scene.
