What a fun sign, painted solid wood with an old worn surface. The one side that faced the weather is more faded than the other, as would be expected. The shape is great as is the detail of the painted surface. I think next to Pennsylvania, New Jersey might have the most roadside stands and markets. And Jersey corn is almost as good as PA’s. Uh oh, gonna get some comments. A great piece of Americana and folk art. The sign is 45″ long x 12″ high x 3/4 thick and has two iron loops to hang it by. Got this from a guy from New Jersey in a field, how appropriate. Like us on face book. SNO BALL STAND, original painting by New Orleans Folk Artist Dr. Dig: Louie’s Juke Joint is the ONLY authorized dealer of Dr. Bob sez: YEAH YA RITE! The weird and wonderful New Orleans folk art of Dr. Bob was one of the brave 9th Ward souls who stayed behind for Hurricane Katrina. He battled looters and infection, but came out on top and is back in action. Please check the Dr. To view more works by the good doctor. These paintings are not only great New Orleans memorabilia, but would make a great showpiece with a positive message in your bar, juke joint, or music venue. Description of this piece: Offered here is a one-of-a-kind original painting by Dr. The image depicts and blue dog and a purple alligator in apparent race to get to the door of a sno-ball stand that is perched on a pier in the midst of a surreal swamp under a sky full of colorful stars. The frame is hand painted in multiple colors and is adorned with a multitude bottle caps, including some from local New Orleans brews. There is a heavy wire attached to the back for hanging. The dimensions (from the outer border of the frame) are approximately 14 x 18. The condition is excellent except there appears to be three small pieces of wood that have broken off in three of the corners of the frame (next to the cut triangles, as can be seen in the image). Not too noticeable, and almost embellishes the rustic feeling of the piece. Check It Out Department: Dr. Bob made the cover of New Orleans Magazine for June of 2008. This is a wonderful piece of Folk Art or painted art from a roadside stand in Indiana. This ear of corn is hand painted on an old wooden ironing board and was hung on a wall as a trade sign for a corn farm stand. This is a unique one of a kind piece of art. The sign dates from somewhere in the early to mid 20th century and is in wonderful condition. The surface shows some age and the mounting holes show very wear which indicates that the sign would have been taken down in the off season. The ear of corn is 53 7/8″ tall x 15″ wide and could be hung both vertically or horizontally. Like us on face book.
