Description: RARE VINTAGE B. STEBNER STONEWARE SALT GLAZE JUG COLBALT BLUE HAND PAINTED SCENE. FOLK ART COBALT BLUE HAND PAINTED ON JUG SIGNED B. FARM HOUSE WITH TREES. SMOKE COMING FROM CHIMNEY OF FARM HOUSE. THE SIZE OF THE JUG IS SMALL AND THE HEIGHT IS 9.5. JUG IS SALT GLAZED ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. RING HANDLE ON THE TOP OF JUG. FIRING MARK ON TOP OF JUG. VERY GOOD CONDITION – NO CRACKS – BREAKS OR CHIPS. NORMAL STAINING AND USE MARKS CONSISTENT WITH AGE. HEIGHT OF JUG 9.5. Quality for our customers is a top priority for us. Reads Church & Dwight New York, NY also Keep dry don’t store in cellar. Measures 9 1/2″ inches tall and 5 1/2″ inches wide and 4 5/8 inches deep. Hand painted “Salt” in a diamond slightly askew on the front. Great patina and paint, hard to find. Some wood splits in places as pictured. Good condition considering the age and utilitarian use. Pictures tell the story. I’ve owned this box in my folk art collection for a while now. Just running out of space. I bought it from a great store which is now closed called the Saltbox. This is an Original Folk Art painting signed by D. Masters Kriebel in fine hand-grained frame. Traditional American Folk Art. Her work is done in acrylic paint on gessoed board with a cracked and polished finish. The frames are hand painted in the old grained style. A beautiful antique painted lidded carved wooden box. Judging by the style, I would think the box originates from Eastern Europe, early C20th and entirely hand made and painted. Designed to hang upon the wall, for candles or perhaps salt, the box has a bird carved decorative back and the vessel itself has been decorated with flowers and other birds. Has a repaired split along the length of the back and some paint chips, it is nonetheless a fabulous example of folk art of the period and region. Measures 36cm wide and 32cm tall – the box is 13cm deep. Has recently fitted brass wall fixings to aid mounting. Happy to send worldwide.
