A large mid-Victorian sailors woolwork picture of HMS Northumberland in an ornate gilt frame. HMS Northumberland (built 1866) was the last of the three Minotaur class armoured frigates built for the Royal Navy during the 1860’s. She was in active service until 1899 and was broken up in 1935. An excellent example of the craft. Frame – 69cm x 59cm. Picture – 49cm x 39cm. Very good for age. Frame has minor losses.
