Vintage Romanian Folk Art. Woman Spinning Wool Yarn. This great little folk art painting shows a woman in traditional garb hand-spinning wool yarn. The painting viewing area is 9″ x 9″, and with the frame measures 11″ x 11″. Condition-wise, there is a little paint worn off on her dress up near the waist. The painting is done in wonderful warm shades of yellow and brown. The painting is mounted in a brown, slightly distressed looking wooden frame. A name in the lower right states the artist was Corine Ionita, and in the lower left is the date of 1976. The receipt is attached to the back, as well various government stamps. We can see the receipt was issued by’Galerie de Arts’, in Bucharest, Romania, in September 1976. The Galerie de Arts is a world-renowned art emporium in Bucharest featuring many works by Romanian artists. This is a great example of Romanian reverse glass folk art from 44 years ago. With its beauty and charming appeal, this wonderful painting would warm any space it was placed in! The painting is described as objectively as possible.
