” in the dream / poetry like leaves / spin down from sky / each a whisper – / this is how i first heard your voice / and fell into love / when i least expected it “. ACEO 2.5 in x 3.5 in (63.5 mm x 88.9 mm). Acrylic and ink on illustration board. E9Art (aka eric) has been a typesetter, tire changer, the coffee dude, that pizza guy, and a full-time artist. Eric didn’t’discover’ art until he was in his 50s, partially due to the idea that he couldn’t be an artist being colorblind, and partially that he was raised in an environment where art was considered a waste of time because’art doesn’t put food on the table. Since his first art sale in 2014, he has been making up for lost time. E9art can be found on twitter, facebook, pinterest and tumblr.

1838 Monroe Academy New York Folk Art Watercolor Painting Poetry
1838 Monroe Academy New York Folk Art Watercolor Poem. We have a very quaint folk art here done in 1838 by Sarah A. Latting, a teacher from Monroe Academy, Henrietta, N. Sarah Ann Sperry (William Latting spouse) was the daughter of James and Fanny Sperry, born in East Bloomfield, NY in Oct. Her father, James, was the founder of this academy. Monroe Academy in Henrietta was incorporated by the state Regents in 1827. In 1840 it was re-incorporated and in 1871 it became the East Henrietta Union School. The watercolor poem was presented to Julia A. She was born in Hanover, N. On 6 Jan 1810, married Stephen G. Armstrong 19 Jan 1842 in Tyre, N. And died 6 Mar 1889. The watercolor poem is in a vintage frame measuring about 9 1/2 x 11 1/2. It looks to have been professionally framed with dustcover and wire hanger. I decided not to open it. I did not notice a depiction of a faded rose in the center of the leaves until wife pointed it out to me. That uncolored rose is by design. Otherwise, watercolors are still quite fresh. Now the poem: To Miss Julia A. Munson An Emblem of Friendship I give thee, A lovely but quick fading rose, O J…. (ulia) may it’s thorns never grieve thee, Nor torture thy bosom with woes. May the friendships which now I have spoken, Not fade like the rose in a day, But C may its sweets nev’r be broken, And never, Oh, never decay. I believe Sarah made a boo-boo with “But C” above. She most likely wanted to start this line as May its sweets nev’r be broken. There is a section of missing paper on the right side of the paper (see photo with red arrows). There are some minor stains and discoloration of the paper. All in all, this is a very nice piece of hand-done folk art that is over 180 years old! Just the right size, ready to hang anywhere you want. The photo of the school is for illustration purpose only. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”. Up for sale is this great antique 1826 manuscript poetry friendship book belonging to one Miss Guion. The book has a primitive repair reattaching the front cover to the binding at the spine with 2 strips of old cloth. The front free endpaper and the first page are only loosely attached to the binding by binding strings. The spine has some remnants of old dried glue. The journal is about 40% full with approximately 32 blank leaves and approximately 23 leaves with some kind of content. Most of the blank leaves are at the end of the book, though some are scattered in between the pages with content. When counting one side of the paper as a page, there are about 22 pages with manuscript writing, 3 of which also have small paintings at the top of the page. There is an illustrated manuscript title page with original artwork, 6 pages with small paintings and one additional page which has a very very small painting at the top of the page (the remainder of the page is blank).
