Primitive folk art at its best!!! Absolutely magnificent piece of treen or trump art! The nicest I have ever seen! Beautiful wood, I think walnut or cherry but not sure. Pictures do not do it justice. Currently has a mirror in it (please excuse pics of me taking pics) but can be used as a frame. Measures about 18″ by 14″. It is totally unique and hand made, imperfections and missing parts are part of the art. Outstanding Folk Art Painted Antique Wooden Bowl, Watermelon
OUTSTANDING FOLK ART PAINTED ANTIQUE WOODEN BOWL, WATERMELON. Offered here a great folk art painted antique wooden bowl/trencher. The bowl itself is beautifully carved in an elongated oval shape. It measures 19 1/2 x 11 1/4 x 3 1/2. The interior finish is a light varnish. For decorative purposes this bowl was painted to look like a watermelon and drilled to hang on a wall. I would date the painting to the 1950s considering the enamel paint used. Thanks for looking into my auctions. C1830 Outstanding Wide American Lemon Gilded Folk Primitive Portrait Ogee Frame
This is an excellent c1830 American gilded frame. Original bright, gilded surface with excellent worn patina and bole reveal on 3 wide ogee molding. The frame is in great condition with minor wear/losses and measures 17 3/4 x 25 1/2 with a 12 3/4 x 20 1/2 rabbet. Cut down from a larger size at some point this frame has mitered corners and repainted ochre sides. This is an outstanding period lemon gild. C1850 Outstanding American Ebonized Dutch Ripple Folk Primitive 16 x 20 Frame
This is an excellent mid 19th century American Dutch ripple ebonized frame. The color of this ripple is a bit different…. Not the more common deep solid black but more of a dark chocolate-black. In bright outdoor light it looks a bit more brownish…. But in indoor light it looks more ebonized. It has the original lemon pie crust liner that has been shimmed in due to shrinkage and black painted sides. The frame is in excellent condition, measures 18 3/4 x 22 3/4 with a 16 1/4 x 20 rabbet and looks to have been resized. Period ripples are always a tough find and they have so many uses. C1900 Outstanding PAINTED TRAMP ART ADIRONDACK Primitive Folk Art Antique Frame
This is a great late 19th century / early 20th century painted tramp art frame. It appears as though this is painted black over a forest green base but its really hard to tell because some of the lighter green highlights appear on the surface….. Either way this frame generally appears as black / dark, dark green and has a great, dry, early surface. The frame is in excellent condition with minor wear and measures 14 1/2 x 16 3/4 with an 11 1/2 x 13 1/2 rabbet. Nice painted tramp art frame. Outstanding Folk Art Painting by Rosebee. Americana Scene, Sunday in the Park-Wow
It measures 16″ x 24″ not including the frame. This complex piece has so many figures in it I kept losing count! Partial bio from internet. Born in 1932, Rosebee grew up on the fringes of the dying whaling industry in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where she shadowed her seafaring grandfather. For as long ago as she can remember his stories filled her bright imagination with vivid images of times long past and topics most folks call tall tales. Rosebee is often, and appropriately, labeled “America’s Premier Nautical and Patriotic Folk Artist”. It is a well-deserved title because her use of American flags and the inclusion of everyday characters of sailing fantasy and fiction are not a new invention for her – she employed them from the start, as she rendered memories to canvas.
