Rare Vintage 1980’s Original Haitian Folk Art Naif Painting. Original Haitian art painting for collecting and home or office decoration. Signed: Gerald Estivene (listed). Subject: Figures, Faces, Flowers. Style: Primitive, Raw, Brut, Naif, Saint-Soleil movement. The Saint-Soleil Movement began in 1973, under the direction of the artist TIGA (Jean Claude Garoute). TIGA provided art supplies for the self-taught artists, many of whom were peasants living in an isolated community in the mountains above Port-au-Prince. Size: 24 X 24. Oil on Masonite (Plywood). BIO: Michael has won many honors with his work which has been exhibited in New York, Denver, and Atlanta. The Hurn Museum in Savannah, Georgia presented a One-Man exhibition of his work in 2005 and has a number of his works in their permanent collection. Articles featuring his work have appeared in Southern Living magazine (August 2006) and Better Homes and Gardens (August 2006).
