The painting depicts a primitive/folk art style American painting of the Hudson River, West Point Bay Area. The painting has some stable, small, craquelure throughout which can be seen in photos along with a chip to the upper left corner. There is also a crack in the bottom right corner and some small specks of missing paint seen towards the top of the painting. The antique frame has some areas of loss seen around edges as well and upper right corner. Please refer to the photos to see the condition and any wear/chipping the frame has. The painting is unsigned on artist board. Measurements: The painting measures approx. 17.75 x 14 inches and 20.5 x 16.75 inches in frame. Early 19th century American folk art oil painting doctor possibly Ammi Phillips

Early American 19th century oil painting of a physician possibly by Ammi Phillips who was an itinerant painter in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. This was an estate find and is of a man who is pointing to a book that says Ippocrates on the spine which is the Italian spelling of Hippocrates, symbolizes a medical figure. Background is a pearly gray. Flesh tones are austere. Canvas has been restretched at an earlier date but is tight. Background of painting shows a number of repair patches, front shows some over painting in the location of the patches. The gold toned frame is 23 x 31 x 1 1/2 and appears to be period and original to the painting. The painting has been waxed. There are two small black dots and some crazing/craqueture but no peeling. Items are described to the best of my knowledge. I often do not know the history of the painting or how it was stored. Please note paintings and frames may have some natural evidence of aging such as small spots and small cracks. I describe all paintings to the best of my ability. How about that little fawn! Such a beautiful painting of the Redwood National Park! Listed artist: John Alfred Coultrup b. Medium: oil on board (Upson). Region: Redwood National Park. Dates: painting is not dated-exact age unknown. Probably 40’s or older. Signed: front lower left (foreground). Measures: 19″ x 26″ Framed: 21.5″ x 28.5″. Condition: There is a heavy scratch mark on the right side middle ground area. Tiny paint flecks, paint chips, very small dings to board, various other scuffs marks, scratches, all 4 sides of margins have frame abrasion with paint loss. Slight bowing to board! Painting could use better/more reinforcement to frame. Back ground on left side top has 2 possible larger areas of paint loss-this could be just the white paint behind trees but unsure. Painting needs mild restoration and or touch up. For as old as the painting is, it is in rather decent condition. Most areas of concern are mild but visible. Still worthy of hanging right away. Restoration is by choice. In overall good condition. Period frame condition: Multiple dings, small chips, paint loss, dust pockets, paint loss, cracks to corners, abrasions, scuffs and scratches. This delightfully naive glimpse of Early American life is painted in oil on paper glued down to a wooden (single board) panel with old mustard paint on the back. Housed in its original lemon gold frame (old surface with many touch-ups), it measures a most impressive 27″ x 32 1/2″ framed; 22″ x 27″ actual and is rich with meticulously drawn and painted details. Reminiscent of the works of Joseph H. In the Bigelow Blue Stone Works located nearby. The painting shows considerable age-toning and staining with areas of slightly raised/wrinkled paper showing lines of loss and paper losses in both lower corners and right edge. The surface is stable and the colors come across nicely despite some loss of contrast with the background. The fragile label is under protective plexiglas. Antique Early 19th C Hand Drawn Colored Fraktur George Peter Deisert 13 Hearts

This offering is for an early 19th C. Pennsylvania Large Hand Drawn & Colored Fraktur. The fraktur is attributed to George Peter Deisert, born 1732 Died 1810 and active 1790 to 1810. Deisert is also known as the Adams County Artist having worked in Adams and York counties in Pennsylvania. The fraktur measures app. 15″ by 12.5″ sight size and the overall framed size is 18″ by 16″. The work consists of 13 hearts, flowing tulips and numerous compass stars. Each heart contains a Pennsylvania Dutch German text. There is an impressed paper makers mark the reads W+ over SS at the bottom edge. The condition is outstanding with one vertical fold line at the center and very very minor wear including a small 1 tear at the right hand edge. There is also some typical minor color loss. The work was matted and framed at some point in the 1950’s and could definitely use a proper reframing. A nearly identical work by the artist is published in “The Gift is Small The Love is Great” Pg. Decorated with thirteen large hearts, flowing tulips and numerous compass stars. Intriguing large antique 19th century (c1850s) original early American watercolor painting. Depicts a brilliant eye catching landscape scene complete with river, dirt path, figures, foliage and fort in the distance. My first thought was that this was a view of West Point from the Hudson River but it will require some further research. Medium is watercolor on period rag paper done in a primitive folk art style. Well done with impressive detail and use of color. The style of leaves in the tree is commonly associated with the early American style of painting leaves. Great capture of light. Period iron gall ink inscription with measurements on verso as well as a period pencil inscription which I can only partially make out. Wolfe Chief seat of the ___cals (see photos 12). Signed by the artist Jane Shaw in the bottom right corner. Quite worthy of further research. Loosely mounted to rigid paper board backing and ready to frame. In Very Good overall condition. Clean and crisp with only gentle toning and corner wear. No holes, rips or tears. Guaranteed a genuine mid 19th century early American watercolor painting. Measures 23″ x 17″. Antique folk art hanging wall cupboard, early crusty paint (Santos display)

An base salmon, and and overlying deep green/blue. Measuring 20 3/4″ h x 16 3/4″ w x 9 deep, the condition of the painted surface is illustrated by the two images in picture #6. She is not however without some apologies. Most importantly, the base trim on both sides is replaced… See my last picture. The glass is also a replacement and may have originally held a mirror. There is also the shadow of a missing block at the top board, but what purpose that served is unknown. Since there is no interior shelf (and there never has been), it is possible that this cupboard was originally intended to display a Mexican Santos.. But that’s merely speculation on my part.
