Please see item description. 19th Century BRITISH PRIMITIVE CAPRICCIO Landscape Oil Painting WARWICK CASTLE. “Warwick Castle Landscape” British Primitive c1850. Highly decorative early Victorian work- a view of Warwick Castle from the River Avon. The artist has added to the feel of the capriccio with the addition of an old bridge over the river. Size- 13.5 by 17 inches approx including frame, canvas 10 by 14 inches approx. Medium- Oils on canvas Frame- Antique wooden frame, some knocks, offered free with the painting. Condition- We would be very happy to hang this one as found. Generally good condition given its age, only the odd light mark in places. Some varnish browning, light craqueleur throughout. Original Arthur Glazier Folk Art Reverse Glass Oil Painting British Sailing Ship

Much of Glazier’s folk art was painted on wood, so this is an unusual medium for him. The work was done in the style of an antique reverse glass painting. In the water, the artist has painted some sea creatures, including a fish, hammerhead shark, several whales, and a mermaid. I believe the piece of glass the artist used was antique, as it has some bubbles and the look of old glass. The glass is mounted in an old wooden frame that measures 25 1/2″ x 18 1/8″. The painted glass portion measures approximately 22″ x 14 1/2″. The painting is signed A. GLAZIER in the lower right corner. It’s guaranteed to be an original Arthur Glazier work of art. Arthur Glazier was originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a Graphic Artist for the Corps of Engineers in Washington, D. Where he designed the shield logo that is still in use today. He retired to East Berlin, Pennsylvania, where he painted prolifically for 35 years. Condition of this reverse glass folk art painting is EXCELLENT. There are just a few nicks of minor paint loss that are not very noticeable. The frame is also in good condition, however, I would recommend mounting the glass more securely and replacing the cardboard backing. Overall, this collectible work of art looks fantastic and displays beautifully. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself. I haven’t been able to find any other examples of Glazier paintings that were done on glass, so I believe this medium was not used often. See my other listings. For more great items! The Honourable Eustace Vasey c1760. A quality painting- one of a number of pieces that were recently found in the garage of a large house on the outskirts of Brighton. Some are in better condition than others so please read the condition report carefully. An interesting old oil painting of a gentleman named as The Honourable Eustace Vasey. Size- 17.5 by 14.25 inches approx (445 x 360 mm). Medium- Oils on metal panel. Condition- We would be happy to hang this one as found. There is however a little rubbing and some thin paint in places. Some varnish browning and light craqueleur visible, ragged edges to the panel. Small paint chip top left, some further ones to the surround.
