Of August 1941, we were walking on the large bridge on our way to Totolapan, when all of a sudden a train engine came upon us. I was feeling hopeless that we werent going to make it to the end of the bridge. I was with my son Julian and asked for the holy protection of St Nicolas T, that he save us from dying. The tin is painted in dark tones and is done in a primitive style. You can see Catarino Gargia praying to St Nicolas T. Who is painted in the clouds. St Nicolas is looking down on Catarino and Julian on the bridge. The tin sign measures just about 9 inches across x 12 inches in height. This is an original piece of artwork, bought from the artist’s representative in Mexico. The date of creation is not known as the artists who do this type of work sometimes use a historic date to show context for the scene created.
