OLD Polish Listed Artist Fine Folk Art PAINTING Artwork EXHIBITED at a MUSEUM $$

Up for sale here is an original, one of a kind gouache and watercolor painting by well collected contemporary Polish painter and illustrator Jozef Wilkon (born 1930). This fine painting dates most likely from between 1973 and 1974 but it could be earlier. The artist’s title for this work is “Girl in Flower Garden, Noon”. The painting only measures 6 1/2 inches high by. 4 3/8 inches across. The total size with the frame comes to 15 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The painting is signed by the artist in upper right corner of the painting. This painting was also exhibited at the very popular Chicago area Museum, The Polish Museum of America, on April 4, 1976 and still retains the exhibition label on the back. The work was framed in the Chicago area at Schwartz Picture Frame Co in 1974 and has a framer’s label on the back as well. The painting is in very good condition with bright colors and no cracking or flaking to the paint. The backing paper has tears but we didn’t want to remove it since the labels were on there and the piece is still sealed quite well. Jozef Wilkon has illustrated many books over his lifetime and he is quite a prolific artist but not a whole lot of his original paintings are floating around out there. Vintage Americana Folk Art Girl In Red Dress Dog & Cat After Ammi Phillips $1.7m

Fell in love with this painting more than 20 years ago in an antiques shop, long before I knew anything about folk art or ever heard of AMMI PHILLIPS. When we moved shortly thereafter, the newspaper article attached to verso detached and we never saw it again so dont remember what all it said because that was 14 years ago. In the interim, saw the famed Girl in a Red Dress with Dog, considered a folk art masterpiece, and came to appreciate this work even more. This girl, wearing a red necklace with her dress, is somewhat more adorable than the Phillips girl, and in this work you also get the cat she cradles. I just noticed it is not perfect but is very good. Hard to say the exact size of canvas but it seems to be approximately 19 x 16 while the beautiful frame is approximately 29 x 24. JAMES AHEARN Folk Art Lamp Miniature CARVED PAINTED Wooden PINTAIL Decoys 1950

The metal stem of the lamp has two beautifully carved and painted miniature wooden pintail ducks in flight mounted on it. The underside of the drakes wing is signed J. The lampshade is original, and in very good condition. Each miniature carved duck measures approx. 5.5 inches in length, with wing spans measuring 6 inches across. Drake and hen have carved bills and painted eyes. The wooden base of the lamp appears to be made of walnut of cherry, and measures approx. 6.25 by 4.75 inches. Total height of the lamp, including shade, is 15.75 inches. Condition is good, having light soiling and wear commensurate with age and use: The drake and hen each have chips/losses in the bottom margins of their wings, very near where the wings meet the body. Purvis Young Angel protecting the city, Original Signed Folk Art Outsider Art

This is an original Purvis Young painting from his earlier work prior to his sight going bad and his eye surgery. I personally met and spent time with Purvis and had mutual friends including Branka Joldas featured in his documentary. This work is in original condition and has never been hung. Measuring 48″ x 24″, painted on plywood and framed in carpet. Purvis Young (February 4, 1943 April 20, 2010) was an American artist from the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Young’s work, often a blend of collage and painting, utilizes found objects and the experience of African Americans in the south. Young gained recognition as a cult contemporary artist, with a collectors’ following including Jane Fonda, Damon Wayans, Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and others. In 2006 a feature documentary titled Purvis of Overtown was produced about his life and work. His work is found in the collections of the American Folk Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the High Museum of Art, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and others.
