Eastern NC Coastal Antique Folk Art Carved & Painted Canvas on Wood Working Canadian Goose Decoy. See photos for details. This canvas goose decoy came from the Elizabeth City, NC area. This decoy has been used and shows wear and tear typical of working vintage decoys. This has not had any restoration and is in the condition found. The canvas is stretched over styrofoam and is attached to a wooden base. The head is carved wood. Old timers from the area have told us older canvas geese bodies were sometimes removed from wooden forms and stretched over styrofoam to reduce weight and make them last longer. Overall this mid 20th century Working Goose Decoy measures 24 long by 10 wide by 12 1/2. To the top of the head and weighs about 5 pounds. See all pictures for condition details. There is some damage to beak and the canvas on both sides of the decoy does not stretch all the way down.
