VERY worn and scratched, much of the painting is hard to see. Very simple wooden frame (with some design) which at the bottom has cracked and been repaired. AAFA FOLK ART SINGLE SIDED GAME CHECKER BOARD RED BLACK PAINT GREAT COLOR. Up for sale is this old hand-painted checker / game board. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is a dark red with black squares and trim and there is paint loss, edgewear and handwear. The game is on what might be a masonite board with a wood frame as we hope you can see in the pictures. There’s a warp in the board as it goes over the board in the middle of the back. We tried to show the warp in the pictures so please look at them closely. We don’t know when the game was painted on but it looks old to us. It’s got great colors! It measures 28.75″ L x 19.5″ W x 1.25 thick. It weighs about 4 lbs. As mentioned, there’s some paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches, worn edges, deteriorated wood, and dings. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from an item of this age… It’s still just a neat old board!!! Thank you for looking at this item. This 15 tall (11 ¼ without base) middle to late 1700s carved and painted wood saint boasts wonderfully grungy, untouched surface with soot accretions and crazing from YEARS near candles. He is missing his hands (carved separately) and glass eyes. Near the base, he is a bit soft from old (inactive) insect damage and he is loose on his exceptional polychrome carved wood plinth/pedestal. He needs to be handled gently, and has terrific presence. For sale is one of several works by the renown Georgia Outsider Folk Artist Willie Jinks 1921 -? These works came out of a private collection in Illinois. The work featured in this sale is one of three works we have for sale that were painted on discarded vinyl notebook binders. This painting is double sided being painted on the inside as well. It features his well known Hoperman Hobby man along with cryptic wording throughout. Condition: Overall good for age. Please see all detailed pictures for your consideration. Measurements: 21 1/2 x 11 5/8 (Opened Binder). Willie Jinks worked as a sanitation worker in Atlanta and collected junk to make into art. Willie Jinks was born in 1921 into a sharecropper family in Locust Grove, Georgia. As one of 13 children, he moved to Atlanta where he worked for the department of sanitation and began salvaging materials. After retiring Jinks began creating images on the materials he had gathered during his working years. Those objects included doors, sheet metal, wood, paper, shoes, luggage, etc. His fascination with animals, nature, and mechanical things is visible throughout his artwork. He is most famous for his Hoperman (Hobbyman) character who shows up in much of his work and the cryptic writing on most of his pieces.
