Wonderful paint decorated dome top box of Ohio origin constructed of pine with early square cut nails. The box retains its original lock and hasp as well as its original dust seal in the interior. The leather hinges are a replacement. The box measures: 16″ wide x 9-3/8″ deep x 7-1/4 high. This is a copy of a recently found document box from the Solon, Ohio region. The box is original. The paint is recent and not old but is dark and grimy. There is a small “chewed” note on the inside lid of the box that is dated 1863 when the box was given as a gift although the box is earlier than 1863. Please note that the box has two age cracks in the top. The box is clean and odor free from a non smoking home. Please view all of the photos and ask questions if you wish.
